Buddhist Practice-oriented Workshop on Breakup and Divorce
Published September 3rd, 2008
Alisa emailed to let us know about a Buddhist practice-based workshop for those going through break up or divorce that will be offered by Gabriel Cohen in New York City this month. If you are interested, the original email from its coordinator is below:
I want to let you know about a workshop I’ll be leading in NYC, presented by E-Vam Buddhist Institute, on the weekend of September 19th and 20th. It will be based on my new book Storms Can’t Hurt the Sky: a Buddhist Path Through Divorce. Here’s a brief description:
If you’re going through a difficult divorce or breakup, you likely have one urgent question: How can I relieve my suffering? Three years ago, I found that Buddhist insights were enormously helpful to me during my own divorce, and I’d like to share them with you. This approach is not at all esoteric or New Agey—it’s very down-to-earth and practical, a different way of looking at life’s challenges. In the workshop we’ll discuss ways to positively transform the difficult emotions most common in the dissolution of a relationship. We’ll explore how to come to terms with anger, sadness, loss, and forgiveness, as well as how to work toward better outcomes in current or future relationships. This is a workshop for people of all faiths.
Session One (Friday evening, 7-8:30): Reducing Anger, Building Patience
Session Two (Saturday afternoon, 2-3:30): Dealing With Sadness and Loss, Discovering an Opportunity for Growth
The workshop will take place in a great space on Lexington Avenue, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. If you can only make one session, that’s okay. The fee for each session is $25. If you’d like to attend, please register ASAP by contacting E-Vam Buddhist Institute at office@evam.org, or by phone at 518-392-6900. If you know someone who might benefit, please spread the word
Thanks, and I hope to see you at the workshop!
All the Best,
Gabriel
