  • Four Priests Visit Eihei-ji and Soji-ji Monasteries

    Published February 6th, 2009

Linked here is an article from the San Francisco Zen Center web site about a recent visit of four Zen teachers to Japan to participate in the Zuise Haito Ceremonies at the two head training temples for Soto Zen, Eihei-ji in Fukui Prefecture and Soji-ji in Yokohama. As the article describes, the Zuise Ceremony is an offering of gratitude to the founders of our school, Eihei Dogen Zenji and Keizan Jokin Zenji. The four Zen priests who participated are San Francisco Zen Center Abbot Myogen Steve Stücky, Senior Dharma Teacher Eijun Linda Cutts, Josho Pat Phelan (Abbess of the Chapel Hill Zen Center), and Doyo Judith Kinst (of Ocean Gate Zen Center). The article describes a few of their experiences during their time in Japan.
