All new members at the Brooklyn Zen Center are strongly encouraged to take part in the Beginner’s Mind Experience, a three-month program that gives an introduction to Brooklyn Zen Center’s offerings along with the opportunity to connect with peers. Each three-month program begins with a kick-off meeting.
A new BME program will start in May! See below for the complete calendar of meetings.
Here are some things you can expect from the Beginner’s Mind program.
- Including the kickoff meeting, all participants will meet in a practice group once a month over three months, led by a senior student.
- A second meeting will introduce different practice roles at Brooklyn Zen Center – working in the kitchen, ringing bells for meditation, and greeting guests visiting the center.
- A special discount on introductory classes will be offered to participants (discount available for one year).
- New members will be encouraged to explore other offerings at BZC including: weekly zazen, practice discussion, and dharma offerings.
