Brooklyn Zen Center will wrap up its fall practice period with a five-day silent Rohatsu retreat with head teacher Teah Strozer from Wednesday, December 4th to Sunday the 8th. Please note that BZC will be closed to the public during this time.
The retreat will feature periods of sitting and walking meditation and daily dharma talks. There will also be an opportunity for participants to meet with Teah for private practice discussion. Two vegetarian meals will be served each day.
The sesshin will culminate with an intimate question and response ceremony with head student Laura O’Loughlin.
Rohatsu commemorates Buddha’s enlightenment, which he attained as the morning star rose on his last day sitting under the bodhi tree, and this retreat closes our fall practice period. Sitting at this time gives us all a chance to enter into silence and stillness in the midst of the heightened bustle of the holidays–and it’s a wonderful way to extend one’s sitting practice.
