About Koshin Rose
Koshin Monica Rose started practicing Zen meditation when she moved to Ireland in the mid-90’s. There, she trained in the Taisen Deshimaru lineage. Upon moving back to the States and making her home in Brooklyn, Koshin discovered the Brooklyn Zen Center and has been practicing here for the past decade. During this time, she has been an active member at BZC, where she sat on the Board of Directors and held various practice roles. In 2011, Koshin was lay-ordained by Soshin Teah Strozer, and in 2015, she completed a three-month practice period at Tassajara Zen Mountain Monastery. Presently, Koshin holds the role of Shika (greeter of guests), gives zazen instruction, leads half-day and one-day sits, teaches classes, and is a member of the Senior Student Group. Koshin is also a student of the Masters in Divinity Program in Buddhist Studies at Union Theological Seminary. She will receive priest ordination from Kosen Greg Snyder in the spring of 2018.
