New Year’s Eve Celebration and Sit, December 31

Event Details

  • Date:

Brooklyn Zen Center will be having its 12th annual New Year’s Eve Celebration and Sit.

The festivities will start at 8pm with a period of temple cleaning (the doors will open at 7:45). At 9:30pm we’ll have noodle soup. Starting at 10:30, we’ll sit three periods of zazen, the third of which will go until just past midnight. During the last period, we’ll sound 108 bells that will ring in the New Year. This is a very sweet, joyful and peaceful way to celebrate this transition — and there’s also something very powerful about sitting quietly in the zendo while the city erupts with its own celebrations all around you.

The tickets for this event are limited and their pricing is tiered:

  • 20 tickets are available at $10 each
  • 25 tickets are available at $20 each
  • 20 tickets are available at $30 each

Please consider your financial position in the context of dana and purchase tickets at the level appropriate for you so that we can ensure accessibility to the entire sangha.
