“When you do something, you should burn yourself completely, like a good bonfire, leaving no trace of yourself.” – Shunryu Suzuki Roshi
From Zen’s inception in China, wholehearted presence in activity has always been considered integral to our practice. Habits of mind are clarified when the body is still in meditation, as well as when the body intends toward this very same presence in daily activity.
In this Wholehearted Activity retreat we will practice giving full attention to each action as our-life-in-the-moment, including the person or object we’re relating with. This is both a community-supported opportunity to encourage a continuity of presence in activity in your own life, as well as an occasion to take upon the shared ownership of our practice container and our physical space.
During this retreat, we will alternate zazen (sitting meditation) with times for discussion and periods of wholehearted activity.
Retreat cost: Sustaining $90 / Base $75 / Members $45
