Here’s a brief excerpt of the talk:
“For myself, as a woman, in this century, practicing as a lay person in an apartment in Brooklyn, I always had trouble with these koans [traditional Buddhist stories]. They are almost exclusively focused on male characters from monasteries in medieval China. I would just get caught up by this very traditionally masculine playfulness, this dharma combat style in which they would engage.”
