Dear Sangha,
Today begins our March Membership Drive at BZC. As in previous years, the next four weeks are an opportunity to reflect on our commitment to sangha and the ways that membership supports our community.
Since starting the Membership Manager role, I have seen firsthand the concrete manner in which monthly dues sustain temples. They go to the brick and mortar: rent, maintenance, shared meals. As in a family, our money pays for our life, and the bank account fluctuates with life’s blessings and life’s droughts. As I look more deeply at faith communities, though—and our community, in particular—I see the more subtle, immaterial pieces we fund, as well—and the inextricable connection between the two.
When I view it from nonseparatation, I realize we are paying rent in order to seed virtue, we are replacing a faulty boiler in order to offer a little more peace to the world, buying a new oven to learn how to befriend our suffering. It is a strange math, but I believe it is a true one.
I hope you will reflect with me this month on becoming a member or upgrading your membership. I hope you will meditate with me on the true power of giving and of money.
To sign up for membership, please click here. To upgrade your membership level, simply sign up for membership at a new rate and we will cancel your old payments. To check your level of giving or for any questions, don’t hesitate to email me here.
Deep appreciation for all of you,
Bianca Ozeri
