We’re two weeks into our community fundraising campaign. Some pages are up with donations coming in. Others of you may be sitting with the invitation, wondering if this is really for you.
If you’re feeling unsure about creating a fundraising page, you’re in good company. In a culture that teaches us to be self-reliant, asking for support can feel vulnerable. But what if this uncertainty isn’t a problem to solve, but a doorway to walk through?
At BZC, we’re practicing something beautiful but also difficult: genuine interdependence and mutual care. What if creating a fundraising page, regardless of how much you raise, is already an act of love, and a declaration that the buddha, dharma, and sangha really matters.
Here’s some steps that might help:
Sit with it: Notice what’s arising. Is it fear of asking? Worry about not raising enough? This uncertainty itself can be a doorway to understanding our relationship with giving and receiving.
Process: Remember that making a page is already an act of devotion to the sangha. You’re not just asking for money – you’re creating a space for others to practice generosity.
Act: Start small. Write one sentence about why BZC matters to you. That’s your page. Everything else can grow from there.
