Sejiki Ceremony: Saturday, October 31, 7:30 PM
Boundless Mind Temple, 326 Clinton Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231
Brooklyn Zen Center invites you to our first Sejiki Ceremony (also known as Segaki), a traditional Buddhist offering ceremony to welcome, nourish, and liberate hungry ghosts.
In Buddhist traditions, hungry ghosts are insatiable spirits, beings whose hunger can never be satisfied. They can also be understood as a way to reflect on the longing or sense of lack we each may experience. The ceremony is also an opportunity to offer care to our deceased loved ones.
Everyone is welcome and no registration is required. The ceremony takes place on Halloween during our three-day retreat (sesshin), but you can join the ceremony on its own without participating in the sesshin.
