Description
  • First Monday of the Month | Online | 7:00 PM–8:30 PM ET

Queer Dharma Share is a space for people who identify across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum to gather for zazen and dharma discussion amidst challenging times.

Previously a peer-organized group, we’re exploring a new format with guest teacher Dawn Haney (they/she) facilitating, continuing our commitment to queer sangha while deepening our dharma exploration.

This event is offered freely. Dana (generosity practice) is welcome:

Dana for the teacher: Dana for Dawn Haney is welcomed and supports their continued teaching. Dana Teacher link

Dana for BZC: Your generous donation helps sustain our offerings and keeps these teachings accessible to all. Suggested contributions for dharma share sessions typically range from $10-30, though any amount that feels right for you is deeply appreciated. Dana Link.

Instructor

Dawn Haney (they/she) weaves together wisdom from Buddhism and social justice traditions, understanding identity, power, and change through their own experiences as a white, fat, queer, chronically ill, nonbinary femme. For the past 15 years, Dawn has been a voice for justice and inclusion in Buddhism and mindfulness, including serving as co-director of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship, DEIA consultant and mentor for the global Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, and teaching on innovative and popular classes like Finding Liberation in Relationship, Fat Dharma, Mudita Revolution, and for East Bay Meditation Center’s Alphabet Sangha. Most formally trained to teach dharma through Theravada lineages, including the Community Dharma Leaders training at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Dawn collaborates with Zen teachers on a range of engaged Buddhist teaching, including with Brooklyn Zen Center’s Dharma Teachers, Sarah Emerson and Charlie Pokorny on Rev. Liên Shutt’s Dharma of Being Anti-Racist course.
