1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
We are gathering for a members Meeting with the Board and Governance Committee on September 12th, and we’d love for as many BZC members as possible to join us. If you’re not yet a member and this conversation speaks to you, we welcome you to learn more about joining BZC.
The meeting will begin with the board sharing the finalized budget for FY26-27. In the second part of the meeting, the Governance Committee will offer its proposal for a Sangha Council at BCZ and ask for members’ feedback. Here is a message from the Governance Committee:
On September 12th, we, the Governance Committee, will offer the sangha our proposal for a “Sangha Council” at BZC. We feel it is crucial to involve the wider sangha in the question of what the function and composition of the Sangha Council will be. We hope to field feedback from sangha members about the current proposal draft.
As a bit of a preview: the current proposal envisions that the Sangha Council’s two core functions are to “1) ensure meaningful sangha participation in decisions that affect the entire sangha and 2) listen to the sangha and serve as a conduit for the flow of feedback and information between the sangha and the various decision-making bodies at BZC, including but not limited to the board.”
We’d like to hear from the sangha about how to nominate members to this body, what sangha members most want this body to be doing, and more.
There are many details to discuss about what the Sangha Council’s function and makeup would be. We hope you will join us on September 12th to craft this proposal alongside us.
Very warmly,
The BZC Governance Committee
